Reconstruction of the Landbergstraat

The Landbergstraat has been reconstructed underground as well as aboveground. The sewers and drainage network has been replaced, and cables and pipes were replaced or moved. The street also got a new look, with new paving, more greenery, a separate footpath, and new lighting.

Sustainable design

TU Delft is striving for a CO2-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive campus while also focusing on improving biodiversity and quality of life. The reconstruction of the Landbergstraat furthered this cause.

Sewers and drainage
The sewers and drainage system have been specifically designed for short and heavy rain showers which are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change.

Green
The new street is greener: There are green façades and a green strip down the middle of the street containing trees and low vegetation. This green strip also captures rainwater, while the trees provide shade in hot weather.

LED lighting
The lighting was updated to meet the standard of TU Delft: LED lighting. The lamp posts along the Jaffalaan and on the parking area between the TPM faculty and the international childcare center have been replaced as well.

Reuse of old pavers
The pavers from the old street will be reused at the terminal for tram line 19 which is to be built next to P2.
