The Landbergstraat is to be reconstructed underground as well as aboveground. The sewers and drainage network is to be replaced, and cables and pipes are to be replaced or moved. The street will also get a new look, with new paving, more greenery, a separate footpath and new lighting.

Sustainable design

TU Delft is striving for a CO₂-neutral, circular and climate-adaptive campus while also focusing on improving biodiversity and quality of life. The reconstruction of the Landbergstraat will further this cause.

Sewers and drainage
The sewers and drainage system have been specifically designed for short and heavy rain showers which are becoming  increasingly frequent due to climate change.

Green
The new street will be made greener: there will be green façades as well as a green strip down the middle of the street, containing trees and low vegetation. This green strip will also be used to capture rainwater, while the trees will provide shade in hot weather.

LED lighting
The lighting will be updated to meet the standard of TU Delft: LED lighting. The lamp posts along the Jaffalaan and on the parking area between the TPM faculty and the international childcare centre will be replaced as well.

Reuse of old pavers
The pavers from the old street are to be reused at the terminal for tram line 19 which is to be built next to P2.

• Street partly in use (from Mekelweg to the entrance to Coffee & Bikes bicycle parking): 1 September 2023
