TU Delft, Aardyn, Shell and EBN are installing a geothermal source on the campus, under the name Geothermie Delft. The geothermal source is a research and educational facility of national importance. Through the unique collaboration between TU Delft researchers, industry, government and the municipality of Delft, the opportunity arises to further develop geothermal science. Those insights can be used to further develop geothermal energy in a complex urban environment. The campus will make use of a sustainable heat source and, at a later stage, so will residential areas in Delft. This makes Geothermie Delft an important step towards a sustainable, carbon-neutral campus and city.
